Great video! This trick really does come in handy at the end of treatment! Thanks Ryan….love these videos! Hope to see a lot of you at the Advanced Reunion!!
Anyone who is considering the advanced course in Rochester in October should know that Rochester is a great place to visit. Niagara falls is just over an hour away, and anyone who brings their families along should definitely check out the Strong National Museum of Play. My wife, 2-year-old son and I loved our recent visit to Rochester when I attended Dr. Swain’s initial course. (also a little note from experience: it’s not a good idea to lose your camera with all your niagara falls photos on your way back home)
Wow! I just started my first case yesterday and man was that easy, but the only trouble I had was placeing the lip retractor in without slipping out. Is there a smaller size retractor or am I just not doing it right, anyone? LLD
@Chris Knight-
There is no contraindication for immediate powerchain usage and actually that is what we recommend. Get those teeth moving into the space asap. The area will be healing and remodeling and is ideal for tooth movement as well.
@LLD,
The key to placing the orthodontic retractor is to tuck the corners under the corners of the patient’s lips and then ask them to RELAX THEIR LIPS. Once they relax their lips, it makes it much easier to tuck the rest of the retractor under their lips. If you’re still having trouble, ask them to help you tuck it as they can provide some good help. The regular retractor should fit in about 95% of patient’s mouths.

Would like to know if there is any clinical contraindication to placing an immediate .014 wire, and power chain lower arch after #24 is extracted?
Thank you….Chris Knight, DDS
