by 6monthsmiles, on 8/4/16 10:53 AM

Over 500 million people are active on Instagram, which makes it one of the most popular social media platforms. Many businesses use Instagram to promote their brand and encourage followers to buy their products and services. Thinking about marketing your dental practice on Instagram? There are many benefits to using the platform to connect with patients and reach new potential patents. When prospective patients see your Instagram posts they are more inclined to trust your expertise and may contact you when they have dental questions or need to schedule an appointment. Now that you understand how the social media platform can help increase your online presence and possibly bring in new patients, we would love to share some advice on how to make the most of your Instagram account. Here are five tips you can use to market your dentist office on Instagram.

Tip #1: Post Candid Photos of Your Dental Office and Patients

Our first tip is to take as many pictures as possible. Do you have someone in your office who is great at taking pictures? Have them snap candid photos of your dentists, administrative assistants, dental hygienists, and other workers while they are doing their job. This will help people get an inside look at your dental office and help them get an idea of everyone's personalities. You can also showcase your office building and decorations. Another great idea is to take pictures and videos of satisfied patients with their brand new smiles and post it on your account. (remember to get proper permission) This behind the scenes access will make others trust your practice because they can see firsthand how much everyone cares. Remember to balance out your photos with shots of dental equipment and other interesting subjects. If you run out of ideas, just look at popular dentist practices to see what they are doing for inspiration.

Tip #2: Remember to Use The Right Hashtags So People Can Find Your Instagram Account

Next, remember to add the right hashtags to your pictures!  Hashtags start with the '#' symbol before a string of words or phrases. When you use a popular hashtag it is more likely that someone else will find the photos when they are searching for that word or phrase. You can use hashtags with dentist related keywords or ones that connect with a certain city or location. For example, if your practice is in Chicago, you can add a #Chicago tag to your post so people who are living in Chicago are more likely to see it. The more keywords you use, the greater your chances are of people finding your practice's Instagram account.

Tip #3: Tag Other People in Your Instagram Posts Whenever Possible

We also recommend that you tag other people like employees, patients, and other people in your posts. This can help other people find your posts and widen your audience since the other person's Instagram followers will see the photo once they are tagged in it.

Tip #4: Schedule Your Instagram Posts for When Your Target Audience Is On The Platform

Are your patients on Instagram in the early morning or in the evening? When you find out when your audience is more likely to be on Instagram, you can schedule or time your posts around those specific times. This will increase your chances of followers engaging with your posts and sharing it with others.

Tip #5: Post Videos Of Different Dental Procedures On Your Instagram Account

You can also take videos of different dental procedures and post it online. This will give people an idea of what dental services your practice offers. Videos are also more likely to receive views, comments, and likes.
